Obtain Decree Nisi
The decree nisi is the main order within the divorce process, and there are a number of reasons why it is so important.
Decree Absolute
Six weeks after the pronunciation of the decree nisi, you can request a decree absolute (basically the order which ends the marriage). After getting the decree absolute, the parties involved are legally free to get married again!
The decree nisi is extremely important as it is only after that date that the court is able to decide on the final orders regarding financial matters. During the divorce process, an application to have financial orders settled can be requested at any time. A decision on financial matters can only be made after decree nisi, and normally only takes effect after the decree absolute.
